The AVACŪ Method

Our Swim Teacher Training Process
AVAC Swim School® Teachers first & foremost possess a love of children & the water. We train all of our Teachers to teach the proprietary & award winning "AVAC® Method" of swim lessons. Each teacher must undergo around 4 hours of initial dry-land training on our programs & philosophies, 8 hours of one-on-one in-water training, 30+ hours of shadowing existing classes with experienced teachers, 4 hours of lesson planning & emergency action plan procedures, & weekly meetings with their peer mentor.

The Deck Supervisors Lead The Swim Teacher Team
Our Deck Supervisors are all experienced teachers capable of teaching all class levels, mentors to the new teachers, & certified Red Cross Lifeguards with knowledge of CPR, AED, & First Aid. They are chosen for their quality in teaching, level of experience, & leadership capabilities. Deck Supervisors undergo on the job training & participate in bi-monthly in-services.

The learning process does not stop there! Every session our Site Managers plan meetings & supplemental trainings to further the learning & experience level of new & old teachers alike. Topics include lesson planning, child development, new teaching technique, & handling emergencies.
