FAQs:

Who is the AVAC Swim School Adults Program For?

We specialize in adults entering the pool for the first time through swimming your first lap. Teenagers and grown-ups brand new and/or with a history of stress in water environments (Adults I) can expect a welcoming, slow-paced, supportive environment.  More time will be spent in calming and informative conversations learning how our bodies work in water and dispelling myths about learning to swim.

Students already comfortable floating in shallow water and ready to float in deep water and swim their first lap (Adults II) can expect coaching on deep water comfort, body positioning, momentum, breathing, and leverage with the goal of becoming an efficient lap swimmer able to start putting together workouts.

What if I Am Competent in All of the Skills Above and Ready for the Next Steps?

Teenagers and adults already lap swimming and looking for stroke correction or a coached workout will benefit more from an AVAC Fitness Program in the Jr. Olympic outdoor pool either with a Certified Personal Trainer or the AVAC Masters Swim Coach.

Why AVAC Swim School for Adult Swim Lessons?

Similar to our award-winning children's learn-to-swim program, AVAC Swim School uses a dedicated learning pool and proven swim teaching methods to create the most comfortable environment for beginners.  In this recently revised program you will not find kids, competitive lap swimmers, families recreating, or water workouts in our pool while you learn—the pool and our team are solely focused on you and your goals.

Go at your pace.  A 45 minute lesson allows for time for discussion, goal check-ins, review, and of course practice in the water.  Swim once a week to ease into a new program or to simply maintain your skills; or swim twice a week to accelerate your learning and hit your goals.

Our lifeguard certified team will maintain a low instructor to student ratio in addition to the use of spotters to maximize the number of repetitions you desire.

When are Adult Swim Lessons?

Currently we offer Tuesday and Thursday lessons 8:00-8:45 pm.  Swim once a week or twice per week.  No need to pick a specific day.  Instead you'll purchase a punch pass, reserve your spot 24 hours in advance of each class, and then come to that class.

How Much is Tuition?

$200 for a 5 lesson punch pass; $400 for a 10 lesson punch pass

Are Adult Lessons Available on Other Days and Times?

We'll expand as the program demands and instructors are available.  For now, lessons remain on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00-8:45 pm.

How Do Make-Ups Work?  What if I Need to Skip a Week?

If you need to withdraw, please do so no less than 8 hours prior to your class (e.g. prior to 12:00 noon for an 8:00 pm class)  No need to schedule make-ups if you withdraw.  Your punch pass is good until you complete the number of classes you purchased, up to 60 days from the time you purchased it.

When Do I Reserve My Place In Class?

Please log in to the AVAC Swim School Portal no less than 24 hours prior to your desired class (e.g. before 8:00 pm Wednesday for a Thursday class) to register.  If you need to withdraw, please do so no less than 8 hours prior to your class (e.g. prior to 12:00 noon for an 8:00 pm class)
