Class Descriptions: 

CPR/AED

Learn the skills necessary to give appropriate care, regardless of the type of emergency. This course explains the emergency medical services (EMS) system, & emphasizes the need for rapid medical assistance in an emergency, & provides instruction on CPR, use of an AED, caring for shock, & more.

Basic First Aid

Focuses on life-threatening & non-life-threatening injuries & illnesses such as seizures, stroke, wounds, musculoskeletal injuries, hypothermia, heat exhaustion, & much more.

Lifeguard Training/Review

Designed for professional rescuers, babysitters, parents, & anyone interested in learning how to recognize & respond to aquatic emergencies. It is the required course to work in California as a lifeguard at a swimming pool or water play area. Through combination of classroom lessons, videos, & in-water skill sessions, participants will learn overall what it takes to prevent aquatic injuries & respond to emergencies.

Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)

Get certified to teach Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR, & more. Instructor candidates must be 17 years old, able to test out of all Red Cross Lifeguard written & skills tests on the first day, & be comfortable presenting in front of a group using various instruction techniques. Remember to bring your bathing suit, CPR mask, valid LGT/CPR/AED card & valid LGI certification.

Wilderness First Aid

Love the outdoors? Want to learn some advanced first aid techniques? This outdoor, hands-on class will prepare you to respond to any emergency, especially when professional help is delayed. Held at Vasona Park.
